We are seeking a dedicated individual to join our team in a part-time capacity, with the opportunity to transition into a full-time role. The starting base pay is $28/hour, with a commitment of at least 20 hours per week.
The ideal candidate is located in Los Angeles or the surrounding areas, ensuring proximity for collaboration and occasional on-site requirements.
Job Overview
The Social Media Manager will join DRAFTED’s team during the most exciting moments in the history of women’s sports. You’ll be responsible for creating, curating, and sharing real-time content that celebrates women’s sports, Latinas in sports, and cultural milestones in the sports world. If you live and breathe social media and storytelling, have a deep knowledge of sports and sports news, and can quickly turn news and trends into engaging impactful content, this role is for you!
Key Responsibilities
Social Media Strategy: Design and execute a robust social media strategy to distribute original editorial content effectively across platforms like Instagram, TikTok, Threads, and LinkedIn. Emphasize capturing the real-time energy of sports events, particularly focusing on women’s sports and cultural nuances.
Community Engagement: Foster meaningful connections with the online community by actively engaging, serving, and building relationships that drive loyalty and trust.
Content Creation: Develop and produce diverse, platform-specific content, including videos, graphics, memes, and stories, tailored to maximize engagement on each channel.
Trend Monitoring: Stay ahead of the curve by tracking sports news, cultural moments, and trending topics to ensure DRAFTED remains a relevant voice in the conversation.
Brand Consistency: Uphold a cohesive tone, visual identity, and aesthetic for all DRAFTED content, ensuring alignment across social platforms.
Content Innovation: Generate creative ideas for social-first campaigns, original content series, and unique ways to package and share stories, including branded or sponsored content.
Analytics & Reporting: Monitor social media performance through analytics, providing actionable insights to refine strategies and enhance engagement, reach, and impact.
Qualifications
Deep Understanding of Women’s Sports & Culture: Passion for and knowledge of women’s sports, especially the cultural and social dynamics surrounding women athletes, Latinas, and underrepresented communities.
Experience: Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in sports media, social media, or journalism.
Social Media Expertise: Advanced knowledge of major social platforms, including Instagram, TikTok, Threads, and YouTube Shorts, with a strong understanding of platform-specific best practices.
Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft engaging and on-brand content.
Attention to Detail: Sharp editing skills and a keen eye for detail, even without a formal editing background.
Photo Editing Knowledge: Familiarity with basic photo editing tools; working knowledge of Photoshop and Canva is a plus but not required.
Video Production Skills: Experience in video production and editing is a significant advantage.
Flexible Schedule: Willingness to work regular nights and weekends to align with sports events and trends.
Travel: Ability to travel 3–4 times per year as needed for events or projects
